After careful consideration and many months of strategic planning, we have rebranded ourselves from Perspex SA (Pty) Ltd to Apex Polymer Solutions (Pty) Ltd. This name change seeks to reflect our commitment to pioneering innovation, quality, sustainability, and our vision for the future.
At Apex Polymer Solutions, we have always prided ourselves on being at the forefront of the polymer industry. Our strengths lie in our world-class local production facility in Gqeberha, which enables us to deliver exceptional products and services to our customers. With cutting-edge technology and a team of dedicated experts, we have consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the polymer industry. One such example is partnering with an international supplier to manufacture an extruded polyurethane.

We are one of only three extruders in the world that have managed to get this right. Apex Polymer Solutions holds a license to manufacture and sell Linashield® globally and already has some significant customers in Europe. We are actively developing a larger customer base in the Southern Hemisphere with Australia and South America being very attractive markets for us as well as North of our own borders into Africa, given that Linashield® finds its home in many mining applications.
We are investing heavily in our manufacturing facility and we have just landed our 6th extrusion line, allowing us to produce Twinwall Polyprop, which we will brand X-Core. The line is due to be commissioned in early November 2023. Through the expansion of our extrusion facility, we will aid job creation at a critical time. We will soon be in an excellent position to meet customer demand quickly and provide a sustainable solution with a competitive advantage over our competitors, based on superior quality & exceptional service. In addition to the new line, Apex Polymer Solutions has also invested in a state-of-the-art, hydraulic large format guillotine, so we can offer a ‘perfectly square cut’ sheet solution to all our large format screen and digital print customers.
Our world-class ISO-certified production facility has, increasingly, become the backbone of our success. By manufacturing locally, we can ensure the highest quality standards, faster turnaround times, and reduced environmental impact. We have adapted and overcome South African challenges by investing in two generators to keep us going through load-shedding. This facility allows us to collaborate closely with our customers, understand their specific needs, and deliver customized solutions that meet and exceed their expectations. Our collaboration with Tetra Pak, a multi-national company proved to be a huge success in terms of offering a sustainable solution to their challenge of recycling Tetra Pak long-life cartons. The LLDPE and aluminium parts of the carton ended up in a landfill. After two years of research & development and further collaboration with recyclers, we were able to take the pelletised PolyAl and extrude it into reusable sheets. These sheets have been used by some of our big retailers for point-of-sale displays and we are constantly investigating further opportunities and applications for this world-class, cradle-to-cradle solution.
The decision to rebrand was driven by our desire to better align our identity with our core values and strengths. While Perspex SA has served us well over the years, we believe that Apex Polymer Solutions better represents who we are and what we stand for. “Apex” signifies the peak of our industry, for which we constantly strive, symbolizing our commitment to being the best in everything we do and the need to supply only the best quality. “Polymer Solutions” emphasizes our expertise in providing innovative and tailored solutions to our customers’ unique challenges. In terms of our total product offering to the markets that we service, our partnership with SloanLED remains an integral part of our business. SloanLED is a pioneer in applied light technology solutions with a vision of enlightening the world. It is their mission to deliver innovative application-based light solutions to the signage, retail, sporting, hospitality, petroleum, and commercial markets. Through this partnership, Apex Polymer Solutions is able to anticipate our customer’s needs and can design, test, and deliver comprehensive solutions that factor in the total cost of ownership requirements, maximize return on investment, and provide a positive experience with meaningful warranties. Our partnership with SloanLED also gives us the opportunity to offer our clients free access to the LedWizard LED layout software empowering them to develop & produce quality signage for their end user.
Apex Polymer Solutions will continue to represent 3A Composites and sell their licensed PERSPEX® Cast Acrylic brand but we will also introduce some unexpected Apex Polymer Solutions branded products that will be fit-for-purpose and that will offer the performance and quality that our customers deserve. Watch this space for the launch of various products over the next few months.
